Who’s Looking Out for Will?
“It won’t affect me unless I let it.” That is one of Satan’s most effective strategies. Christians who believe they can do whatever they please and not be affected by it, are already deceived.
The Word of God affirms this in Proverbs 6:27-28, “Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be seared?” Both questions beg the answer, “No!” Consider once again the body, soul and spirit as an allegory. The soul is made up of Thinker, Will and Feeler. The spirit is a doorway to the soul through which spiritual data flow (godly input by the Holy Spirit and ungodly input by the devil). The body is the other doorway to the soul, and is made up of Looker, Hearer, Smeller, Taster and Toucher. It is this physical passage that is addressed by the questions of Proverbs stated above. Will is constantly making choices, based on the influence of Thinker and Feeler. While all five residents can be a problem, the main targets of the enemy are Looker and Hearer. The greatest percentage of material sent to Thinker and Feeler comes from these two. (Note: the five senses of the body receive and store everything they are in contact with – this is referred to as “routine knowledge”) Everything in God’s creation is either good or evil: “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3) The reality is, all that we see and hear is either good or bad and influences our soul toward either righteousness or unrighteousness. Listen to the testimony about Lot while he lived in Sodom. “[He] was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds).“ (2 Peter 2:7-8) What are you allowing to pass through your eyes and ears to your soul? It does matter! Who’s looking out for Will?
