Why Did God Let It Happen?
Why did God let it happen? Why did God let my parents get divorced? Why did God let a loved one die? Why did God let me be poor? Why did God let me have a physical defect? Why did God let me have enemies?
Why did God let me be lonely? Why did God let me be adopted? Why did God let me have a disease? Why did God let me have such strict parents? Why did God let me have a handicapped father? Why did God let me be in a non-Christian family? Why did God let me get punished unfairly? Why does God let so many wicked people prosper? Why? Why? Why? Is it possible to know why God let it happen? To understand why the Lord allows things, it is necessary to see life from His perspective. The ability to see events from God’s point of view is a special wisdom given to believers who make commitments related to spiritual growth. The Lord gives this insight to His ways if we yield our rights (Psalm 25:9); if we are pure in heart (Matthew 5:8); if we obey His commandments (John 15:14-15); if we develop spiritual discernment (1 Corinthians 1:2:14); if we consider the opposite of our natural inclinations (Isaiah 55:8-9); if we are spiritually minded (1 Corinthians 2:15-16); if we fear the Lord (Psalm 25:14); if we love God (Romans 8:28-29). Why is it important to see events from God’s point of view? Because all things that happen are for our benefit and not for our destruction. If we don’t understand why things are happening, we have a hard time following God’s commands in difficult situations, i.e. “in everything give thanks” (1 Thessalonians 5:18), “trust in the LORD with all your heart” (Proverbs 3:5), “do not fear, nor be afraid” (Isaiah 44:8), and “Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4). But if we can see events from God’s perspective, His commands become easier to follow. Make a commitment to spiritual disciplines that will develop your “spiritual eyesight.
